Franchia Tea House and Restaurant
If you like Asian tea and live in New York, chances are you've heard of Franchia, a Korean tea house and restaurant run by the owners of the renowned vegetarian restaurant, Hangawi. Located just a few blocks east of Herald Square and its frenzied crowds, Franchia is a peaceful spa-like sanctuary offering a place for quiet contemplation and the appreciation of a wide variety of green, black, herbal and flavored teas.
What many may not know, however, is that Franchia serves much more than just tea. A surprisingly large menu offers interesting options for lunch, dinner or a mid-afternoon snack. The all-vegetarian menu blends Korean, Asian and Western influences, with dishes designed to be light, nutritious and healthy. Selections from the menu include Mushroom Stone Bowl Rice, Sweet Corn Cilantro Pancakes, Mongolian Hot Pot and, if you still crave tea, their own Green Tea Vegetable Dumplings.
Franchia is open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m., and on Sundays from noon - 10 p.m.
