Kalustyan's Masala Café

Chef Geetika Khanna, a pioneer of Indian fusion cuisine in New York City, now presides over Masala Café, the flagship restaurant of the famous Kalustyan's spice market in Manhattan's Curry Hill. Formerly of Raga in the East Village, Khanna has earned high praise for her innovative food, characterized by the seamless layering of flavors and artful balancing of the familiar and the exotic.

At Masala Café, Khanna prepares refined fusion fare best described as Indian-inspired with a French accent. Selections from the menu include Filet of Fish with Tomato Concasse on Coconut Rice, Bouillabaisse with Cumin Cayenne Aioli and Flank Steak Marinated in Mint and Cilantro with Sautéed Greens and Masala Potatoes.

And if you're left with a taste for more, sign up for Khanna's half-day Little India Shopping Tour and Cooking Class offered through the New School University. In addition to her natural flair with food, Khanna was trained at the French Culinary Institute and has a wealth of knowledge to share.

Masala Café is open for lunch 11:30 - 3 p.m. and dinner 5:30 - 11 p.m. daily.
